Walter F. Watson

WATSON, WALTER F. (1840~1911) Walter F. Watson was born in Texas in 1840. During the Civil War, he served in Company E, 3rd Texas Cavalry, Ross? Brigade. The 3rd Texas Cavalry fought at Pea Ridge, Corinth, Holly Springs, Vicksburg, Atlanta, and the Franklin-Nashville campaigns. The 3rd was organized in June 1861 and surrendered on May 4, 1865 at Citronelle, Alabama by Lieutenant General Richard Taylor, commanding the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana armies.

Watson lived in Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches County. He was a single farmer who suffered from rheumatism. On January 3, 1910 he was admitted to the Confederate Men?s Home where he died April 15, 1911.
