Virginia La Clare Wallace Ernst, 86, of Huntsville, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. She was born in Holland, Texas to George Scott & Helen Sedonia Schmidt Wallace. Mrs. Ernst grew up on the black land of Little River, Texas and later Bryan, Texas where she graduated from Bryan High School and McKenzie-Baldwin Business College.
 
Mrs. Ernst, mother of three, has now gone to be with her husband of 65 years, Judge Erwin Goree Ernst, and son Wallace Erwin Ernst. Mrs. Ernst is survived by her sister Blanche Wallace Saunders; son Mark Anthony Ernst and wife Mary Anne; daughter Regina Ernst Guthrie and husband Fred; grandson Zachary Ernst and wife Charlotte; and daughter-in-law Rhonda Faye Ernst.
 
Mrs. Ernst picked cotton as a young Bell County belle alongside her parents and sister. Although she shunned the limelight, her blood ran blue through the bloodline of her great aunt, the first female governor of Texas, Miriam Amanda Ferguson.
 
Her family is grieving the loss of their dear mother who devoted her entire life to loving and care giving her husband and children, her greatest treasures. When asked the one thing she was most proud of she answered “My three kids.”
 
A private family service is being held in Austin, Texas at the Texas State Cemetery.
