Timothy Thomas Treadway
TREADWAY, TIMOTHY THOMAS (1950 ~ 2021). The following is an obituary for Timothy "Tom" Treadway, former director of the General Services Commission. The obituary was provided by Weed, Corley, Fish Funeral Home of Austin.
Timothy “Tom” Treadway, born February 25, 1950 in Greenville, Texas went to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, December 13, 2021. His wife, Carol was by his side that day as well the last 34 + years. They had a magical, once in a lifetime love for each other through all that life presented them. Carol and Tom were married on October 31, 1987 and celebrated this year by passing out Halloween candy to the neighborhood children of Rockport, TX.
Tom was always smiling and laughing as he enjoyed life to the fullest. He worked hard, played hard, and loved hard. For all that know him, they each have a great story or a few to tell about their time with him. Tom will be remembered for his giving heart, that included his jokes, laughs, smiles, and everything he could ever tell us about OU Football, The Varsity as he called them.
Being from Greenville, he was a multi sport athlete that competed at his highest levels possible. Tom took that same tenacity into his professional career. In 1973 he graduated from East Texas State University with a B.A. in Personnel Management. From there he went on to begin his career working for the Texas House of Representatives, first as an Administrative Assistant then onto Director of Financial Division for the Texas House of Representatives. In 1983, he became a State Director for AT&T Government Relations focusing on Texas and Arkansas’ AT&T businesses. 12 years later, Tom became the Executive Director for the General Services Commission. Four years later, he went on to become a Partner with Business Partners Limited. For those that had the opportunity to work with him, they know how hard he worked to achieve his and the business’s goals while bringing joy and a smile to the hard times.
Tom enjoyed going on fishing trips and traveling with Carol. Rockport, TX was one of his favorite places to go when he could get away from life in Austin. He was a fan of “Big Time College Football” and the Oklahoma Sooner’s Football team. Many of us will recall his “Game Day updates” that helped us all get ready for the football games on Saturdays. Tom always ended his updates with… BOOMER SOONER!
