CRAWFORD, THURMAN RAY (1943 - 2025). The following is an obituary for Bo Crawford, former member of the Texas House of Representatives. The obituary was provided by Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home of Boerne.

Thurman Ray "Bo" Crawford, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully from natural causes on August 29, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. He was 82 years old. Born on May 5, 1943 in Beaumont, Texas, Bo was the first of two brothers in a family of five children to Raiford Ray and Flora Crawford. He lived 75 years in Beaumont, where he proudly served his church and community well.

A graduate of South Park High School and Lamar University, Bo began his career in university administration as Dean of Students at his alma mater. After earning a PhD at Texas A&M University, he served for two terms as a State Representative in the Texas Legislature. He was previously a member of the Beaumont City Council, and for over two decades served Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas as a board member and chairman of the board.

After his public service, Bo spent over 40 years working with clients in the financial services industry where he developed many close and deep relationships. A lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church, he served as a deacon for many years and on several different committees. He had a gift for remembering names and faces and genuinely loved getting to know people.

Bo will be missed by his devoted wife, Carolyn – who has been the love of his life since she moved to Beaumont with her family in 8th grade. They wed in 1964 and celebrated 60 years of marriage this past December. Together they created a rich life filled with friends and family who were always welcome in their home. Many have fond memories of celebrating holidays and get-togethers around their table.

In 2019, Bo and Carolyn moved to Fair Oaks Ranch, a suburb of San Antonio, to be near their three grandchildren, Win (16), Wells (14) and Meridan (13). Bo's favorite name was "Papa," and he took utmost delight in spending quality time with his grandkids. His legacy will no doubt live on in their hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Chris Crawford and Corby and his wife, Brandi Crawford; grandchildren, Winston, Wellington and Meridan Crawford, all of Fair Oaks Ranch; brother, Wayne and his wife, Candy Crawford of Austin, and sisters, Gerry Juhan of Beaumont and Eloise Wooley of Washington state. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Lunell Stanley of Angleton.

Visitation will be held with graveside service to follow at 12 noon, Monday, September 8, 2025 at The Texas State Cemetery, 909 Navasota Street, Austin, TX. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the memorable life of a man who lived with faith and purpose.
