SULLIVAN, THOMAS (1819~1894) Thomas Sullivan was born in Ireland in 1819 and came to Texas in 1860. On August 13, 1861, Sullivan enlisted in Company F, 1st Texas Heavy Artillery, which was known as the Davis Guards. He took part in the Battle of Sabine Pass in September 1863. The small Confederate force, the Davis Guards, composed of 44 soldiers helped to capture over 200 Federals and won a major battle for the Confederacy.

Following the War, Sullivan resided in Houston and was admitted to the Confederate Men’s Home in Austin on March 10, 1891. Thomas Sullivan died on January 31, 1894 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
