CALHOUN, THEODORE (1837 ~ 1933). Confederate veteran Theodore Calhoun was born December 14, 1836 in Houston County, Texas to Squire and Laura Calhoun, both of South Carolina.

Calhoun enlisted in the Confederate Army in May of 1861 and served until May 5, 1865. He was assigned to Company C of the 13th Texas Calvary, serving as a private and personal bodyguard for Major General John George Walker. He saw extensive action in Louisiana, Arkansas and in Texas along the Red River. He was slightly injured in the Battle of Mansfield in Louisiana.

At the conclusion of the War, Calhoun returned to Texas, eventually settling in Beaumont to be a farmer. As his health deteriorated, Calhoun was enlisted in the Confederate Men's Home in Austin in 1932.

Calhoun died February 6, 1933 and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery the following day.
