Stella Davis Hardin

HARDIN, STELLA DAVIS (1887~1983) Mrs. Hardin was Born in Morgan's Mill, Texas on February 22, 1887 to Andrew Jackson and Emmaline (Logan) Davis. After Mrs. Hardin and her husband moved to Austin, she opened Hardin House, a landmark boarding house near the University of Texas, in 1937. Mrs. Hardin managed Hardin House until 1976 when she was 86 years old. She served in an advisory capacity afterwards. She was a member and steward in the University Methodist Church for over 50 years, and was active in the Woman's Society, the Woman's Club, Book Trailers, and other organizations. Her volunteer activities continued until her 90th birthday and included her participation in "Meals on Wheels" when she was 87 years old.
