Sharon Keller
KELLER, SHARON (1953~) Sharon Keller, Judge and Presiding Judge of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, was born August 1, 1953, in Dallas, Texas to Rildgell Jackson and Wilma Mary Keller. She graduated from Greenhill High School in 1970, and attended Rice University, where she earned a B. A. in philosophy in 1975.
In 1978, she graduated from the SMU School of Law and began a private practice in Dallas and later worked in her family's restaurant business. From 1987 to 1994, Judge Keller served as assistant district attorney in the appellate section of the Dallas County District Attorney's Office. In 1994, Keller was the first woman elected to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and in 2000, she was elected as Presiding Judge of the Court.
Judge Keller is a member of Judicial Committee on Information Technology and the Judicial Advisory Council to the Community Justice Assistance Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. She also serves as a member of Rules Committee of the Court of Criminal Appeals and on the Court's Capitol Murder Habeas Corpus Committee. She is a member of the Executive Board of the SMU Dedman School of Law and is the Court's liaison to the State Bar Board of Directors. She is also a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
