O. T. Wilkison

WILKISON, O. T. (1844~1925) O. T. Wilkison was born January 2, 1844, in Lauderdale County, Alabama. On December 24, 1861, Wilkison enlisted in Company C, 27th Regiment, Alabama Infantry, at Florence, Alabama. He appeared on the Prisoner of War roll at Alton, Illinois on February 14, 1862. On February 6, 1862, Wilkison was captured at Fort Henry. On September 23, 1862, he was sent to Vicksburg, Mississippi to be exchanged. The 27th Alabama Infantry was ordered to report to General Buford's Brigade, Loring's Division in April 1863. The 27th Infantry was detached from Buford's Brigade in June 1864. The 27th Alabama Infantry surrendered at Greensboro, North Carolina.

Following the War, Wilkison came to Texas and farmed in the Lubbock area. He was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on December 3, 1918. O. T. Wilkison died on February 7, 1925 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
