MCDONALD, NELL GLENN (1923 ~ 2006). The following is an obituary for Nell Glenn McDonald, spouse of Ben F. McDonald. The obituary was published in the May 6, 2006 edition of the Corpus-Christi Caller-Times

Nell Glenn McDonald, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2006. She was born on November 11, 1923 in Nixa, Missouri, to Vesta and Allen Glenn. After graduating from the University of Texas with a Bachelors degree in Journalism, Nell married Ben F. McDonald in 1951.

This year they celebrated 55 years of marriage filled with love, friendship, and happiness.Nell was a long-time member of South Shore Christian Church. She was a founding member of the Nautilus Study Club, and a former member of the American Association of University Women and the Library Board.She is survived by her loving husband, Ben F. McDonald, former Corpus Christi mayor (1961-1963); son Chris McDonald and wife, Sharon of Beeville, Texas and grandson, Brandon McDonald; daughter, Molly McDonald-Ogden and husband Jon of Austin, Texas and granddaughter, Kristen Waghorne and husband Will, and great-grandson, Carter; daughter, Amanda McDonald Buckalew and husband, Bob of Austin, Texas, and granddaughters, Karyna McGlynn, and Zoe and Anna Buckalew; and son Kevin McDonald and wife Tammy of Corpus Christi, Texas, and grandchildren Cameron and Samantha. Nell is also survived by her sister, Irene Warren and Doris Young, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved.

The family wishes to express gratitude to caregivers Lily Hall and Novis Lewis, and friends and visitors for all their support and kindness.Memorial services at South Shore Christian Church on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. under the direction of Drs. Richard Peltz and Jack Keenon.

Interment at the official Texas State Cemetery in Austin at a later date. In lieu of flowers Nell would have appreciated a donation to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission Lodge, South Shore Christian Church, an environmental or educational organization of your choice, or just give something to some in need. She would have loved it.
