WARD, MATTIE BRIGGS (1859~1945) Mattie Briggs Ward was born on November 15, 1859, in Montgomery, Alabama to Brinson Briggs, of Georgia, and Marcia Cante, of South Carolina. She married John C. Ward. She had no living children at the time of death. She did have one nepphew name J. D. Brown and one niece named Mrs. L. B. Dewalt. Mattie entered the Confederate Home from Waco, Texas on February 5, 1939. She died on July 21, 1945 and was buried the next day in the Texas State Cemetery.
