Margaret Rose Kruppa Kilgarlin

KILGARLIN, MARGARET ROSE (1940~2003) Margaret Rose Kruppa Kilgarlin, wife of William Wayne Kilgarlin, was born November 5, 1940, in Victoria, Texas to Joseph Emil Kruppa and Rosie Emile Jelinek Kruppa. She was an accomplished clothes designer, cook and was heavily involved with the Democratic party. She volunteered for John F. Kennedy's successful campaign in 1960 and became the Demoratic precint committee chair of Houston - at the age of 21. She married future Texas Supreme Court Justice William Wayne Kilgarlin December 28, 1963 in Houston and served as a politician's wife and a political activist. Margaret was also heavily involved in several groups. She served on the Board of Directors of the Zachary Scott Theatre in Austin and Pro Musica in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She also donated her time to the Santa Fe Opera Guild, the ACLU, Young Democratic Clubs of Texas and was the President of the Bayou City Demoratic Women's Club from 1977-78. She passed away December 15, 2003 in Santa Fe.
