Margaret E. Barnard Applin

APPLIN, MARGARET E. BARNARD (1846 ~ 1928). Confederate widow Margaret E. Applin was born in Tarrant County, Peter's Colony to George Abraham and Sarah Barnard in 1846. She married John J. Applin on March 9, 1863. 

John J. Applin, a private in the 4th Texas Calvary, Company D, enlisted in the Confederate army on September 6, 1861. John and Margaret Applin had four daughters in Atascosa County according to the 1880 Census. He died on March 1903. Margaret applied for widow's pension on January 18, 1909.

She died on June 5, 1928 in the Confederate Women's Home in Austin, but it is unknown when she arrived.
