PARKER, MARCEDDA BRINKMAN (1937 ~ 2026). The following is an obituary for Marcie Parker, spouse of B.L. Parker, former board member of the Lower Colorado River Authority. The obituary was provided by Harrell Funeral Home of Austin.
Marcedda (Marcie) Brinkman Parker, 88, of Austin, Texas, walked through the heavenly garden to her eternal home on Monday, January 19, 2026. Marcie was born on March 25, 1937 to Fred and Edna (Benn) Brinkman in the community of Birdsong in Burleson County. She attended the Birdsong school until it closed and transferred to Caldwell where she graduated high school in 1955.
She retired from the State of Texas after 32 years, serving under four governors. She worked for the House of Representatives, the Governor’s Budget Office, and Texas Parks and Wildlife.
She met the love of her life, B.L. Parker, in January of 1958 while he was Sergeant-at-Arms in the House. They married in June of 1958 after he finally persuaded her to go on a date in March 1958. They dedicated their life to each other for over 50 years.
They were blessed with a daughter, Marcilynn, in 1961. Their family grew through the years embracing many lifelong friends that became family.
She was a member of Abiding Love Lutheran Church for over 40 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed the company of friends and served on many committees and various activities through the church and her community.
Marcie was preceded in death by her loving husband B.L., her parents and three brothers, Leonard, Junell, and Vernon. Marcie is survived by her daughter, Marcilynn, brother Lancier Brinkman, sister-in-law Carol Brinkman, plus many nieces and nephews, as well as many more that call her Mom, Aunt, or Grandma.
In lieu of flowers, it was Marcie’s wish for loved ones to express their condolences through the giving of memorials to St. Jude, the American Cancer Society, Abiding Love Food Pantry, or to a charity of your choosing.
