Manly Barrington

BARRINGTON, MANLY (1838 ~ 1910). Confederate veteran Manly Barrington was born in Florida in 1838.

During the Civil War he belonged to Company D, 1st Texas Cavalry, Terrell's Brigade. Terrell's Brigade fought primarily in Texas and Louisiana and was present at Mansfield and Pleasant Hill. Terrell's Texas Cavalry Regiment was sometimes incorrectly referred to as the 34th Texas Cavalry.

Barrington moved to Texas in 1855 and lived in Graham, Young County where he was a member of the Methodist Church.

He was a farmer who suffered from cancer when he was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on May 6, 1909.

Barrington died January 20, 1910 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
