THOMAS, LISA PARKER (1956 ~ ). The following is a biography for Lisa Parker Thomas, spouse of Larry Dee Thomas. The biography was provided by the Thomas family.

Lisa Parker Thomas, D.D.S., was born in Hobbs, New Mexico, in 1956.  In 1981, she moved to Houston, Texas, where she resided for thirty years until she and her husband, Larry D. Thomas, relocated to Alpine, Texas, in 2011.

Prior to moving to Houston, Ms. Thomas resided in Monroe, Louisiana, from 1968 through 1980. Ms. Thomas attended Neville High School and graduated in 1974.  Upon graduation she enrolled in Northeast Louisiana University on a full-time basis from which she graduated Cum Laude in 1978 with a BS in Dental Hygiene.  Prior to graduation, she was inducted into the Sigma Phi Alpha, Beta Iota Chapter, Dental Hygiene Honor Society. After working as a full-time dental hygienist for three and one-half years, she took prerequisite courses for dental school and was inducted into the Premedical Honor Society at Northeastern Louisiana University. 

Shortly after moving to Houston in 1981, Ms. Thomas obtained employment with The University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston Dental Branch as a radiology technician.  Upon the completion of her remaining prerequisite courses for dental school, Ms. Thomas was accepted into UTHSC- Houston Dental Branch in 1985 and graduated in 1989 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.  She practiced general dentistry in Houston for several years and eventually transitioned into a full-time faculty position in Radiology at UTHSC- Houston Dental Branch.  In 2006, she became a Practice Leader and was responsible for supervising approximately sixty dental students during their dental education.  She also served on several important committees and served as President of the Faculty Senate for two years. While employed as an associate professor at the Dental Branch, Dr. Thomas received several awards of distinction including the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award in the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology; Best Practice Leader Award; induction as a faculty member into Sigma Phi Alpha, Alpha Epsilon Chapter, Dental Hygiene Honor Society; and induction as a faculty member into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Mu Mu Chapter, Dental Honor Society.  Dr. Thomas retired in 2011 after twenty-six years of service at UTHSC- Houston Dental Branch.
