Josephine Moore Hale

HALE, SARAH JOSEPHINE (1856 ~ 1959). Sarah Josephine Hale was born on May 11, 1856 in Washington County, Iowa. She was born to Jacob Moore of Iowa and Emeline Garren. She was the widow of John Cassel Hale, a Confederate soldier who died on February 16, 1918 in Bexar County, Texas. They were married on July 27, 1910.

She was a resident of the Woman's Confederate Home at Austin beginning on May 21, 1929 and a Confederate Pensioner until her death on January 29, 1959. Her husband was a private in Company C, 16th Missouri Infantry Prince's Division, Confederate States Army, enlisting in 1862 and served until the close of the war. Her husband served from Missouri and enlisted on Feb. 1, 1862 at Ozark, Arkansas.
