John R. Ingram

INGRAM, JOHN R. (1845~1916) John R. Ingram, or Ingrum, Confederate veteran, was born in Tennessee in 1845. At the outbreak of the Civil War, Ingram enlisted in Company H of the 1st Tennessee Cavalry.

After the War, in 1876, Ingram immigrated to Texas and eventually settled in Luling, Caldwell County, where he was a farmer. At age 55, Ingram moved to Austin to live in the Confederate Men's Home.

After stayin for two years, Ingram was discharged at his own request on September 3, 1902. He returned five years later, but was once again discharged on September 29, 1909.

According to the Confederate Home Roster, Ingram never returned to the Confederate Home, but was buried in the Texas State Cemetery on April 24, 1916.
