PARKER, JOBE HENRY (1838 ~ 1916). Confederate veteran Jobe Henry Parker was born February 25, 1838, in Gates County, North Carolina, to Nathaniel Gabriel and Mary Ann (Powell) Parker.

Jobe Parker enlisted in Company C, 2nd Regimental North Carolina Cavalry (19th State Troops) at Gatesville, North Carolina, on July 8, 1861. Company C was comprised of individuals from Gates and Hertford Counties, their officers were John G. Boothe, Captain; James M. Wynn, First Lieutenant; Mills L. Fure and William P. Roberts, Second Lieutenants.

The 2nd Regimental North Carolina Cavalry (19th State Troops) participated in many battles including the Battle of Brandy Station. Brandy Station was the largest cavalry battle of the Civil War, more than 22,000 soldiers fought for both sides. Brandy Station was the opening engagement of the Gettysburg Campaign.

Following the War, Parker married Margaret Ann Simons on December 28, 1865 in Gates County, North Carolina. Parker moved to Texas in 1883 and lived in Bastrop County. He worked as a farmer.

Parker was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on May 30, 1905. Jobe Henry Parker died November 26, 1916, and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery on November 27, 1916.
