Jarrett Cromer

CROMER, JARRETT (1827 ~ 1908). Confederate veteran Jarrett Cromer was born in 1828 in Alabama, though his exact date and place of birth are unknown.

Cromer moved to Georgetown, Texas in 1856, becoming a blacksmith. On May 14, 1862, Cromer enlisted in the Confederate army as a private at Brenham, Texas, joining Company B of the 35th Texas Cavalry, Brown's Regiment. He retired from the army in October of 1864.

After the war, Cromer returned to Georgetown and continued his job as a blacksmith. Citing old age, he was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home in Austin on January 6, 1904 and left at his own request July 2, 1906. He was later readmitted on February 1, 1907 and died February 22, 1908.
