James Thomas Sullivan

SULLIVAN, JAMES THOMAS (1842~1927) Confederate veteran James Thomas Sullivan was born in Arkansas to Jesse Sullivan (1818~1880) and Eliza V. Burleson (1819~1891) in 1842.

Sullivan served in the 26th Texas Cavalry, according to his Confederate Pension application, though no records of his service have been found.

Sullivan moved to Fayette County, Texas in 1856. He had three wives, a Mary Mayes, whom he married before 1885, a Mary Ivy, whom he married before 1885 and an unknown woman. He had five children with Mary Mayes, two with Mary Ivy and one with the unknown woman.

Sullivan received a Confederate Pension in 1906 and moved to Austin to live with his daughter, a Mrs. J.A. McCalmount at an unknown time. He died at her home in 1927 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
