MUSGRAVE, JAMES (1845 ~ 1908). Confederate veteran James Musgrave was born in Mississippi in 1845.

During the Civil War he served in Company A, 18th Mississippi Cavalry, R. McCullouch's Brigade, Forrest's Division in the Army of Tennessee. The 18th participated in many small battles around Mississippi. The 18th was a part of General Nathan Bedford Forrest's cavalry campaign. Part of the campaign was General Forrest's raid on Memphis. A portion of the 18th fought along with John Bell Hood in the fall of Tennessee. The 18th were paroled in Gainesville, Alabama in May 1865.

Musgrave moved to Texas in 1870 and lived in Kaufman County. He was not married and worked as a "fruit tree man." He was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on September 29, 1906 where he died August 14, 1908.

He was buried in the Texas State Cemetery shortly after.
