J. A. Ball

BALL, J.A. (1833~1890) J. A. Ball, Confederate veteran, began his service in the Confederate Army as a private and ended his service as Corporal, while serving in Company H, of the 16th Texas Infantry. The length of his service is unknown. His company is known to have fought at Vicksburg and Chickamauga, but it is uncertain if he participated in those battles. He lived in the Texas Confederate Home for a brief time, entering May 19, 1887, and leaving September 17, 1887. No other records have been located. James Ball died July 14, 1890 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
