Henry H. Carico

CARICO, HENRY H. (1820 ~ 1911). Confederate veteran Henry Carico was born in 1820 in Virginia.

On August 14, 1861 Carico enlisted in Company C, 5th Tennessee Cavalry Battalion under Captain D. McClellan at Knoxville, Tennessee. In May 1862, the 5th Battalion was reorganized with the 4th Battalion to form the 2nd Regiment Tennessee Cavalry (Ashby's).

The newly formed regiment participated in Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, and the Atlanta Campaign.

Following the Civil War, Carico came to Texas and was a farmer. His residence at the time of admittance to the Confederate Men's Home was Midlothian, Ellis County, Texas.

Carico entered the Confederate Home on July 18, 1900, and left at his own request on December 16, 1905 and was later readmitted on September 20, 1907.

Carico died at the Home on January 26, 1912 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery on the same day.
