Fredrick A. Niemann

NIEMANN, FREDRICK A. (1919 ~ 1992). Fred Niemann was born on August 25, 1919 in Yoakum, Texas, the son of C. H. and Molly Niemann.

He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in business administration. While there, he served as the President of the Student Body in 1942. Upon graduation, Niemann served in World War II as a member of the Army Air Corp.

He returned from the war to attend Law School at the University of Texas in Austin, where he received an LLB degree. While at the University he was a member of Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity and was elected to the Friars. Niemann served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1948 through 1956, representing the people of Gonzales and Lavaca Counties in southeast Texas.

Taking pride in the fact that he never lost an election in his life, he made the conscious decision to leave politics in 1956 so that he could devote more time to the highest priority in his life - his family. He developed a legislative law practice in Austin where he practiced law for 45 years. He founded the law firm of Niemann & Niemann, and was a member of that firm, along with two of his sons, upon his death.

Niemann died in Austin on April 25, 1992. Remembered by those who worked with him as an astute political strategist and a successful real estate investor, he is remembered by his family as being a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Information provided by family and Texas State Cemetery file materials.
