Ellis D. Cockrell

COCKRELL, ELLIS D. (1895 ~ 1974). The following is an Associated Press article written upon the death of former Texas House Member Ellis Cockrell. The article was published by a variety of newspapers on December 9, 1974.

Ellis D. Cockrell, who represented Lampasas, San Saba and McCullough counties in the Texas House of Representatives in 1939, died Friday.

Cockrell worked with the Texas State Welfare Department for 20 years before his retirement. He also taught school and served as principal in various Texas cities.

Survivors include his wife, Doris, and daughter, Mrs. Wanda Davis of Dallas.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
