Elizabeth Julia Brown Hodges

HODGES, ELIZABETH JULIA BROWN (1906~1989) Elizabeth Julia Brown Hodges, wife of Gus M. Hodges, Jr., was born on March 27, 1906, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She later moved to Dallas and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in music. After receiving her degree, she worked as a private music instructor and at The Hockaday School, a college preparatory school for girls, in Dallas.

After marrying University of Texas Law Professor, Gus M. Hodges, Jr., she moved to Austin, where she was an active supporter of faculty and students at the Law School. As a member of St. David's Episcopal Church for many years, she served in the choir and in many charitable endeavors. For the last several years, she had been a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shephered.

Mrs. Hodges passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 1989, and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery two days later.
