Charles D. Clark

CLARK, CHARLES D. (1848~1941) Charles D. Clark, or Clarke, Confederate veteran, was born on March 27, 1848 in Lynchberg, Virginia to George and Elizabeth Parliament Clark. During the Civil War, Clark fought in Company A of the first Virginia Infantry of Longstreet's Division in the Virginia Army.

In 1886, Clark, who never married, moved to Texas, and settled in the small community of Lockhart, where he was a cook. Having no relatives, and unable to care for himself, he was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home in Austin. He lived at the Home from January 15, 1933, until his death on April 7, 1947.
