Charles C. Collins

COLLINS, CHARLES C.(1833~1916)Charles C. Collins, confederate veteran, was born in Mississippi in 1833. Collins moved to Texas in 1852 and settled in the Tyler County area. According to Confederate Pension Application information, Collins enlisted in the Confederate Army in Tyler County during April of 1864 and served until the Confederate surrender in 1865. Records conflict as to which unit he served with, though he did not leave Texas after the war.

Collins settled in McLennan County and lived as a farmer until 1914 when he was admitted to the Confederate Home in Austin. Collins died two years later on September 30, 1916 and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery.
