SYPTAK, BETTY JANE KIRKPATRICK (1926 ~ 2000) Betty Jane Kirkpatrick Syptak was born March 16, 1926, in Trenton, Texas, to the late Homer E. and Mamie Swearingen Kirkpatrick.

She graduated from Trenton High School in 1943, and after attending Austin Business School, she was employed from 1943 to 1949, by the State Board of Insurance. Syptak married and moved to Bay City in 1949. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and Fellowship Sunday School Class, a member of the order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Matagorda General Hospital Pink Ladies' Auxiliary.

Before retiring in 1988, she had been employed at Matagorda General Hospital for 25 years. Syptak is buried next to her brother, former Representative E. Ray Kirkpatrick. She died after a yearlong battle with cancer.
