Albert G. Collins

COLLINS, ALBERT G.(1846~1941)Albert G. Collins was born February 4, 1846, in DeWitt County, Texas to Louis P. Collins and Laticia Slocum, both of Mississippi. During the Civil War, Collins fought in Company D of Walters Battalion of Cavalry in Tom Green's Brigade in Polynac's Division of the Trans Mississippi Army.

After the war, Collins worked as a stockman in Barnhart, Texas. Due to old age, he was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home in Austin on December 15, 1924. Collins only stayed about five months, but returned to the Home at his request on June 8, 1926. He spent the next fifteen years at the Home until his death on January 8, 1941.
