A. E. McNair

MCNAIR, A. E. (1826 ~ 1924). Confederate veteran A. E. McNair was born in Mississippi on April 19, 1826. He moved to Texas in 1844 and worked as a farmer.

On August 19, 1861, McNair enlisted in Captain D. W. Shannon's Company, 5th Regiment Texas Cavalry, also known as 2nd Regiment, Sibley's Brigade, Texas Mounted Volunteers. The company was mustered into service on August 31, 1861 in San Antonio, Texas.

During the War, McNair was wounded in Louisiana. On July 11, 1865, he was paroled at Millican, Texas by the United States.

McNair was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home and died on July 24, 1924. He was buried at the Texas State Cemetery on July 25, 1924.
