A. D. Oliphint

OLIPHINT, A. D. (1848 ~ 1922). Confederate veteran A. D. Oliphint was born in 1848 in Sabine County, Texas.

He enlisted in the Confederate Army in March of 1863 in Milam, Texas and was assigned to Company J of the 1st Texas Infantry. The 1st Texas Infantry joined the Army of Northern Virginia in skirmishes along the Northern front, mostly in Tennessee. The unit surrendered at Appomattox after losing almost 75-percent of its men over the course of the War.

Oliphint returned to Texas after the War to become a metal worker.

He settled in Travis County before being admitted to the Confederate Men's Home in Austin and died there March 22, 1922.
